TORONTO: Production has commenced on the new docu-reality series Cheer Stars (working title) for Corus Entertainment's ABC Spark.

The ten-episode series from Good Human Productions is slated to premiere next summer on ABC Spark in Canada and in the U.S. on ABC Family, which will be renamed Freeform in January. The series follows the two-time World Champion All Star, All Girl cheerleading team, The Great White Sharks, as they prepare to defend their title.

Maria Farano, the director of original programming for Corus Women and Family, commented: “We are thrilled to be working with Good Human Productions on this series. The world of competitive cheerleading celebrates the extraordinary athleticism and compelling young women who lead fun and inspiring lives. Viewers are going to enjoy spending time with this incredible group of women."

“These inspiring young athletes will have viewers laughing, crying and cheering alongside them, both on and off the mat," said Claire Freeland, an executive producer at Good Human Productions. "Their world is rich with gripping stories that are entertaining, relatable and undeniably authentic."
