Pernel Media has been commissioned by France Télévisions Group to produce Meet the Vulture Families, an hour-long blue-chip wildlife documentary special.

Shot in 5K, Meet the Vulture Families (Bienvenue chez les vautours) encourages viewers to reconsider the birds’ reputation as bad luck omens, livestock killers and scavengers. Told with humor and cinematic footage, the doc aims to convey that these endangered species are essential for our ecosystems.

Meet the Vulture Families is directed by wildlife photographer Emmanuel Rondeau and shot in Provence, France, focusing on four different species of vulture: the griffon, black, Egyptian and the bearded vultures.

Samuel Kissous, president of Pernel Media, said: “This important documentary further cements our move into premium natural history programming. We’re thrilled to be producing this film for France Televisions and also to have our new international executive producer, Celine Payot Lehmann, as part of the team and working with our international partners on this unique project.”
