OWN Sets New Docuseries for Saturday Night Lineup

LOS ANGELES: OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network has ordered two new docuseries for its Saturday night schedule, Released from 60 Days In producer Lucky 8 and the tentatively titled Checking Inn.

Released features first-person narratives of formerly incarcerated men and women as they leave the prison doors for the first time to restart their lives. The program follows these individuals as they set out to reconnect with their loved ones, establish their independence and begin to resurrect their abandoned lives.

Checking Inn (working title) comes from Trooper Entertainment in association with Lionsgate Television. It follows former Essence magazine editor-in-chief Monique Greenwood as she pursues her lifelong dream of running her own bed and breakfast. Greenwood now operates the Akwaaba Bed & Breakfast Inns on the East Coast.

“OWN’s Saturday night lineup features entertaining and thought-provoking docuseries focused around conversations our audience is having in their everyday lives,” said Erik Logan, the president of OWN. “We think both of these shows will connect with our viewers and we’re pleased to be able to continue to serve up great new content.”
