NATPE Reveals Breakthrough Awards Finalists

LOS ANGELES: NATPE has revealed the nominees for its third annual Reality Breakthrough Awards, the winners of which will be announced during the 2017 conference in Miami.

Bear Grylls, Blake Shelton, Caitlyn Jenner, Reza Farahan and Todd Chrisley are nominated in the category of reality personality. Hosts up for the award are Andy Cohen, Jane Lynch, Nick Cannon, RuPaul and Steve Harvey.

The nominated documentaries are Chef’s Table, Making a Murderer, O.J.: Made in America, The Seventies and Weiner. Braxton Family Values is among the docusoap nominees, along with Chrisley Knows Best, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, The Real Housewives of New Jersey and Vanderpump Rules.

In the category for structured reality, the nominated programs are Chopped, Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, Lip Sync Battle, Shark Tank, The Profit and Undercover Boss. The nominees for unstructured reality are 60 Days In, Born This Way, Deadliest Catch, Hard Knocks, Intervention and Naked and Afraid.

The factual-entertainment category features Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown, Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, Real Time with Bill Maher and Vice. The reality competitions that are battling for the award are America’s Got Talent, American Ninja Warrior, Dancing with the Stars, The Voice and Top Chef. In the game show category, the contenders are Celebrity Family Feud, Family Feud, Hollywood Game Night, Match Game and The $100,000 Pyramid.

The winners will be evaluated by a panel of judges that boasts executives from ABC, AMC and SundanceTV, Discovery Channel, HISTORY, ICM Partners, NBCUniversal, United Talent Agency, 20th Century Fox Television Distribution and more. The winners will be announced during NATPE Miami 2017 at a special luncheon ceremony, as part of the annual conference and marketplace that is being held from January 17 to 19.
