Mayday Among Cineflix’s Sales to African Broadcasters

LONDON: Cineflix Rights has secured sales to pan-African broadcasters for 200-plus hours of programming, including the docudrama Mayday: Air Disaster.

South African broadcaster e.tv picked up seasons three through 14 of the long-running series Mayday: Air Disaster, produced by Cineflix Productions. e.tv also went for several seasons of the crime series Unusual Suspects, from LMNO Productions, as well as the crime and investigation series Last Seen Alive, from Cineflix Productions. The Home Channel in South Africa acquired seasons 11 and 12 of Cineflix Productions’s Property Virgins, as well as the first two seasons of Buy It, Fix It, Sell It from Frantic Films.

Chris Bonney, the CEO of Rights at Cineflix Media, said, “Africa is a growing market for us, with new networks launching and existing pan-regional networks expanding their acquisitions as they look to meet the challenge from SVOD players.
