Kew Media Group’s true-crime series Unmasking a Killer, which focuses on the infamous Golden State Killer, has gone global, premiering on Sky Living in the U.K.

The five-part series takes an in-depth look at the manhunt for and escape methods of the Golden State Killer, who was recently identified as 72-year-old Joseph James DeAngelo. The Golden State Killer was responsible for a string of 12 murders and 51 attacks in Southern California in the 1970s and 1980s.

Unmasking a Killer features interviews with investigators, law enforcement officers and victims who had never spoken out publicly before. The show originally airs on HLN in the U.S. It debuted in the U.K. on Sky Living on May 4.

Jonathan Ford, the executive VP of sales and distribution at KEW said bidding for the series in the U.K. was “very competitive” and Sky was “quick to take the show off the market.”

Ford added, “We’re experiencing similar levels of interest in other key territories and have several other deals at contract stage. We’ve certainly seen a surge in inquiries since the arrest; the timing has been quite astonishing since the hunt for the killer has been in progress for 44 years.”
