NEW YORK: Spike has greenlit an all-new ninth season of the hit tattoo-competition series Ink Master.

Season nine will have 15 new one-hour episodes, as well as a live finale. The new season will air in 2017.

Ink Master is currently in its seventh season on Spike, averaging 1.8 million viewers in its Tuesday time slot. Season eight will debut this August. The show is produced for Spike by Original Media.

“The Ink Master franchise has been a major driver in Spike’s successful shift to general entertainment,” said Sharon Levy, the executive VP of original series at Spike. “The continued ratings growth is a result of the creativity and ingenuity of our partners at Original Media and our phenomenal hosting/judging trio of Dave Navarro, Oliver Peck and Chris Nunez.”
