SILVER SPRING: Investigation Discovery (ID) is launching the all-new eight-part series The Coroner: I Speak for the Dead next month.

Slated to premiere July 18 at 10 p.m., the series follows the work of Graham Hetrick, a coroner in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. Each episode of The Coroner: I Speak for the Dead features a homicide case from Hetrick’s personal files. From the moment he receives the call to the crime scene and first comes into contact with the victim, through to the autopsy, viewers join Hetrick in a series of twists and turns as he peels back the layers of the investigation to reveal how the murder happened and who is responsible.

In the premiere episode, Hetrick suspects the murder of a young mother may be a crime of passion. In another episode, he finds a connection between decades-old missing persons cases and a slew of unidentified victims in a discovery that could stop a serial killer.

“They say everybody has a story to tell, but Graham Hetrick knows well that every body has a story, and it’s simply his job to listen,” said Henry Schleiff, the group president of Investigation Discovery, American Heroes Channel and Destination America. “In this fascinating foray into forensics, The Coroner: I Speak for the Dead showcases a critical element to resolving homicides: the role of a coroner. A natural-born storyteller and a bonafide mystery-solver, Hetrick has helped bring peace to the families of slain loved ones in search of answers, as well as to ensure that justice is, indeed, served.”
