Escapade Media has sold its newest family-friendly TV series, Crash Test World, to Discovery for the U.S. and Canada.

Crash Test World was produced by Intuitive Content and created and executive produced by Jenny Buccos, the founder of ProjectExplorer, an online global educational video service. Crash Test World, hosted by Kari Byron from the Discovery show Mythbusters, takes viewers on a journey to explore how history, technology, culture and people come together to make the world a better place.

ProjectExplorer is an award-winning non-profit leader in innovative instruction with a 17-year history of using media to educate today’s youth about the importance of growing up globally competent and culturally aware. The films, directed and produced by Buccos, focus on histories and cultures of foreign places and people using interviews with subject experts, artists and public figures. Produced for a child and young adult audience, segments in each series depict everyday life and the challenges and concerns of those living in the locations and regions featured. Each film is two to four minutes in length, with each series containing approximately 40 films.

The first season of Crash Test World takes ProjectExplorer’s mission to a new level—bringing global issues into not just classrooms, but family living rooms as well. The new six-part series includes videos based in Berlin, New York City, Qatar, California, Detroit and Israel.

Crash Test World is funded by Qatar Foundation International, Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Foundation and Amazon web services.

“ProjectExplorer was creating online videos predicated on what I call Adventure Learning before YouTube even existed,” said Andrew Zimmern, creative advisor, executive producer and ProjectExplorer board member. “The work completed over the last decade is heavily inspired by the UN’s Global Goals, focusing on food security, urban sustainability and responsible consumption. Crash Test World, our new television series, is foundationally about young people exploring and seeking solutions to the biggest challenges of our time… and nothing is more important than that as we navigate the ambiguity of the world’s current state.”

“It is our dream to show how children can be the positive change we need in the world,” added Buccos. “And it is ProjectExplorer’s goal to be the platform to get us there.”
