Dov Freedman & Charlie Russell Team Up for Factual Indie Curious Films

Producer Dov Freedman (The Trouble with Dad, An Hour to Save Your Life) and director Charlie Russell (Chris Packham: Asperger’s and Me, The Trouble with Dad, Terry Pratchett: Choosing to Die) are launching a new independent production company, Curious Films.

Dedicated to popular factual, Curious Films already has a number of projects in development. The company has secured its first commission from BBC Three for a documentary series about West Ham United Women’s Football Club titled Britain’s Youngest Football Boss (working title). The series will follow the progress of a team of female players as they debut in the professional Women’s Super League.

Freedman said: “Charlie and I share a vision to make quality factual television with an unashamedly popular touch. We have a desire to innovate at every turn, and we’re thrilled with how our first major commission is shaping up.”

Russell added: “What makes Dov and I different is our approach to talent and our ability to support, harness and challenge big names for exclusive access, telling heart-warming and intimate stories for the widest possible audience—something that’s reflected in our second commission, to be announced soon.”
