Noah Media Group has acquired select international sales rights for Daniel Gordon’s feature documentary The Australian Dream, about the Australian Football League legend Adam Goodes.

Noah Media Group will sell the film through its international sales and distribution arm Noah X, which now holds right for the doc in territories excluding Australia, Canada, the U.K. and airlines. This marks the first time that a third-party project will be sold by the company.

The film is directed by BAFTA award-winning filmmaker Daniel Gordon (Hillsborough), written by journalist Stan Grant and produced by Oscar and BAFTA winner John Battsek (Searching for Sugar Man). It tells the story of Indigenous former AFL star Adam Goodes, through the backdrop of Goodes’ journey during the 2013-15 AFL season, while also exploring race, identity and belonging in Australian society today.

Noah Media Group’s head of international sales, Catherine Quantschnigg, said: “The Australian Dream is a thought-provoking story on how we can become more united as a people, something which has never been more important than now. We are thrilled to be working with Lorton Entertainment to bring this wonderful film to TV buyers around the world.  This also marks an exciting new chapter for NMG’s distribution arm Noah X as we are now selling third-party productions that complement our slate of award-winning sports documentaries.”

Executive Producers Tommy Gordon and Joel Kennedy added: “The Australian Dream is an incredibly powerful story about a shared history and our failures to reconcile and how we can become better, as individuals and as a society. We are extremely excited to be working with Noah Media who we believe are the best possible partners to ensure that this powerful message can be delivered to as wide an audience as possible.”
