LONDON: Discovery Networks International has commissioned second seasons of the series Too Ugly for Love? and Marooned.

Produced by Betty, the sophomore run of Too Ugly for Love? will be made up of eight hour-long episodes. The show, which follows individuals looking for love while also hiding secret medical conditions, will debut on Discovery Networks International’s lifestyle networks across more than 220 countries and territories in January 2016.

“There is a time in everyone’s life, regardless of circumstance, when you feel inadequate or undeserving of love,” said Mark Procter, the acting head of production and development for factual entertainment at Discovery Networks International. “The first season of Too Ugly for Love? saw some charming love stories emerge from the dates against all the odds and season two returns with more heartwarming adventures that we believe will resonate with audiences around the world.”

Marooned, meanwhile, features renowned adventurer Ed Stafford, whose previous credits include the Discovery Channel series Naked and Marooned and Ed Stafford: Into the Unknown. The new 6×1-hour series, developed by Tigress Productions, will premiere on Discovery Channel across more than 220 countries and territories in Q1 2015.

“This new season captures Ed doing what he does best—pushing his survival skills to the limits in his true inimitable style,” said Helen Hawken, the VP of production and development at Discovery Networks International. “Despite crossing the Amazon and spending 60 days alone on a deserted island, Ed still manages to prove that he can survive and even thrive in even more inhospitable terrains than ever before.”
