LONDON: Channel 4 in the U.K. has commissioned a new observational documentary series about a Scottish holding facility for young male offenders.

The fixed-rig doc will be set inside the Polmont Young Offenders Institution. It will explore the methods that staff at HMYOI Polmont employ in efforts to rehabilitate young offenders between the ages of 18 and 21, as well as following day-to-day life inside the establishment. RDF Television is producing the doc for Channel 4.

Amy Flanagan, the deputy head of documentaries at Channel 4, said: “This is yet another first for the rig, to be installed in a prison environment. Being granted such incredible access will allow us to provide an even more intimate and authentic portrait of what life is like for these young men behind bars.”

Daniel Fromm, executive producer for RDF Television, commented: “We’re excited to be working with the Scottish Prison Service to tell the story of how HMYOI Polmont attempts to turn around the lives of the young offenders in its charge."
