LONDON: Discovery Networks International and TLC in the U.S. have commissioned Cake Boss through season nine, with Buddy Valastro also on board to star in the new competition series Kitchen Wars.

Cake Boss, starring the well-known baker, will return for a 20-episode ninth season on Discovery Networks International’s factual-entertainment channels across more than 220 countries and territories, and on TLC in the U.S. Cake Boss is also set for ten additional episodes of season eight.

The series follows Valastro and his family as they continue to expand their cake-making business. Cake Boss is produced by High Noon Entertainment and Cakehouse Media for Discovery Networks International and TLC.

In addition, Valastro is set to star in the all-new 13-episode show Kitchen Wars. He will serve as host and judge of the cooking competition series in search of Brazil’s most talented amateur cook. Kitchen Wars will premiere on June 28 on TV Record and on July 1 on Discovery Home & Health Brazil.

Cake Boss is a global franchise that we hope will continue to grow and ticks off all of the boxes—it’s a proven ratings winner, boasting a highly engaged fan base that absolutely adores Buddy, and it’s a property that is appealing to our distribution and ad sales partners,” said Marjorie Kaplan, the president of content at Discovery Networks International. “The series’ signature blend of humor, drama and emotions is as authentic as Buddy’s accent, and we’re thrilled he’ll continue to be with his first television family at TLC and Discovery Networks International.”

“No matter where I go around the world, the importance of family is one value that is universal,” said Valastro. “Nothing brings people together better than food, and my hope is that these new episodes of Cake Boss will continue to inspire people to want to bake and spend time with family.”
