Buyers Lined Up for New Hillary Clinton Documentary

PARIS: A host of international broadcast deals have been signed for the documentary Hillary Clinton, a Woman on the Edge, including a presale to Blue Ant Television in Canada.

The doc will be completed in September, ready to air in the fourth quarter of 2016, in time for the U.S. presidential election. The project was produced by Flach Film Production for France Télévisions. Director William Karel, who previously worked on two similar pre-election portraits of Nicolas Sarkozy and Barack Obama, goes behind the scenes of the race for the U.S. presidency, while spotlighting the ascension of a woman who began in politics as the “wife of…” and is in the running to become the first female U.S. president.

ZED has presold the program to MBC (Al Arabiya), Blue Ant Television, RTBF, RDI (Radio Canada) and DR. The project is also seeking new financing.

Manuel Catteau, the president of ZED, said: “We recently took on the distribution of the latest documentaries by William Karel, who has an international reputation and whose individual style is immediately recognizable. It was therefore entirely logical for ZED to continue its international reach with his most recent film.”
