Apple TV+ has slated the global release of Boom! Boom! The World vs. Boris Becker, a two-part documentary about German tennis star Boris Becker and his tumultuous personal life, for April 7.

The two-parter features a series of interviews with Becker, who won Wimbledon at age 17 and went on to hold 49 career titles overall. The filmmakers had access to him for more than three years, until April 2022, when he was sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison for hiding assets and loans to avoid paying his debts.

Interviews with members of his immediate family and other tennis stars, including John McEnroe, Bjorn Borg, Novak Djokovic, Mats Wilander and Michael Stich, are also included.

From Oscar-winning director Alex Gibney (Taxi to the Dark Side, Enron) and Oscar-winning producer John Battsek (One Day in September, Searching for Sugar Man), the series is a co-production between Battsek’s Ventureland and Gibney’s Jigsaw Productions, in association with Norton Entertainment.

Boom Boom! The World vs. Boris Becker is produced by Battsek and Gibney with George Chignell and Erin Edeiken. Executive producers are Stacey Offman, Richard Perello, Kerstin Emhoff, Andrew Ruhemann, Julian Bird, Duncan Ford and Ed Barratt. Gibney also serves as writer and director.
