Bloomberg has ordered a second season of An Optimist’s Guide to the Planet with Nikolaj Coster-Waldau from Cream Productions, Wildfire Television and Ill Kippers Aps.

In season one, the eponymous actor traveled across four continents to 17 countries in search of the world’s most visionary researchers, activists and entrepreneurs who are helping drive humanity toward a more sustainable future. In the new season, he will again travel the globe to dozens of countries, including India and many others in Europe and the Americas.

Production on the new six-episode season is set to begin in May and run through August, with the premiere slated for Q4. Each episode will run on all of Bloomberg’s linear, streaming and digital platforms—Bloomberg TV, Bloomberg Originals, the Bloomberg website and streaming partners.

“Season one of An Optimist’s Guide exceeded my expectations, revealing that, despite our differences, we share a deep passion for solving challenges and building a better future,” Coster-Waldau said. “From the Maasai Mara to the Great Barrier Reef to a city farm in Cleveland, I witnessed firsthand how people everywhere are driving change with innovation and care. This journey has confirmed that optimism isn’t naïve—it’s rooted in action, and I can’t wait to meet more brilliant changemakers in season two.”
