BBC Worldwide Picks Up Stake in Amazing Productions

LONDON: BBC Worldwide has acquired a 25 percent stake in the factual indie Amazing Productions, also scoring a first-look option for distribution rights for the next five years.

Amazing is led by George Clarke, a professional architect and presenter; Rebecca Mulraine, producer and managing director; Michael Simkin, an award-winning factual filmmaker and Tania Fallon, features and formats producer. All four already have strong commissioning relationships with BBC, ITV and Channel 4.

Mark Reynolds, BBC Worldwide’s genre director for factual, said: “George and the team at Amazing are the perfect partners for BBC Worldwide as their slate delivers exactly what we’re looking for right now—that is non-scripted aspirational lifestyle content, male-skewing fact ent., access driven documentaries, and high-end accessible specialist factual. They are hugely collaborative, clever and intuitively understand our portfolio needs.”

Clarke, the director of Amazing Productions, commented: "The deal that Amazing Productions has agreed with BBCWW is fantastic. The partnership will allow us to create, deliver and distribute some of the very best media content adding to the great commissions we already have under our belt. The future of the business looks truly amazing!”
