BBC Studios has presold the five-part science series Human, one of the many titles it is presenting at its 2025 Showcase, to Germany’s ZDFinfo.
From the BBC Studios Science Unit and NOVA for BBC and PBS, the series tells the story of how humanity went from being just one of many hominin species to becoming a dominant form of life on Earth. Paleoanthropologist Ella Al-Shamahi follows in the footsteps of our ancient ancestors, visiting internationally important archaeological sites to meet experts who can help unlock the secrets of humans’ deep historical past.
Human will be presented during BBC Studios’ 2025 Showcase alongside other factual titles such as Walking with Dinosaurs, Kingdom, Civilisations: Rise and Fall (w.t.) and much more.
Walking with Dinosaurs, from BBC Studios Science Unit Productions, reimagines one of the BBC’s best-loved factual shows 25 years later. Each episode tells the. story of an individual dinosaur whose remains are currently being unearthed by dinosaur hunters.
Kingdom, produced by BBC Studios Natural History Unit and BBC America, chronicles the real-life sagas of four African animal families—leopards, hyenas, wild dogs and lions—across four years.
Civilisations: Rise and Fall (w.t.) combines expert testimony and limited dramatic reconstruction and CGI to bring to life the final chapters of four of history’s most iconic ancient worlds to reveal four stark warnings from the past. It comes from BBC Studios Specialist Factual Unit.
Entertainment series that BBC Studios will present at its Showcase include Big Zuu & AJ Tracey’s Rich Flavours, in which TV chef Big Zuu and rapper AJ Tracey seek out the world’s most expensive dishes; Alison Hammond’s Big Weekend, which sees TV host Alison Hammond take the celebrity interview in a new direction as she spends quality time with some of the biggest celebrities in their homes; and Amanda & Alan’s Spanish Job, in which the eponymous duo reunite at a rundown dwelling located in the southern Spanish province of Andalusia.
