Barney Doc Set for Peacock

Peacock has begun production on a three-part original documentary about Barney the Dinosaur from the hit children’s show Barney and Friends.

The documentary will explore the trajectory of Barney, a beloved children’s character who later became the target of hate and rage around the world. With exclusive interviews and archival footage, it will offer firsthand accounts of the phenomenon from the show’s cast, crew and critics.

It is slated to premiere on Peacock in 2022.

The documentary is produced by Scout Productions, with Tommy Avallone directing. Executive producers are Avallone, Raymond Esposito, and Scout’s Rob Eric, David Collins, Michael Williams, Amy Goodman Kass and Joel Chiodi. Wedney Greene is co-executive producer, with Trent Johnson serving as producer.
