Banijay Rights Bolsters Factual Offering with First-Look Deal

Ahead of MIPTV, Banijay Rights has expanded its factual slate and entered into a first-look agreement with Nimble Dragon, with Sun, Sea and Brides to Be among the initial titles covered in the deal.

Sun, Sea and Brides to Be is the first series Banijay Rights signed under the exclusive agreement. The 20×60-minute show is produced for Channel 4 and sees couples head to Cyprus to get married. The series follows the highs and lows of weddings as staff and guests collide.

Banijay Rights is bringing Sun, Sea and Brides to Be to MIPTV, along with two seasons of 7Wonder’s Back to the Land. The 15×50-minute series is hosted by Kate Humble. There is also season three of Minnow Films’ SAS: Who Dares Wins and season five of The Supervet. The documentary Putin and the Mafia from Banijay Group’s KM will debut at MIPTV and has been presold into several territories. Other highlights from KM are Inside Lehman Brothers, which was presold to YLE (Finland), Radio-Canada (Canada), RTBF (Belgium), RTS (Switzerland), SVT (Sweden), DR (Denmark) and VPRO (the Netherlands); and Carlos the Jackal, which was also presold to RTBF, RTS, SVT and YLE.

Tim Mutimer, the CEO of Banijay Rights, commented, “MIPTV is shaping up to be a very strong market for new factual content and I’m particularly delighted to announce our new partnership with the team at Nimble Dragon. The opportunities for factual programming in the global market are greater than ever, and collaborations with leading, innovative producers such as Nimble Dragon are key in meeting and exceeding the requirements of our international partners. With brand-new light-hearted entertainment, emotional real-life stories and timely current affairs arriving, our factual portfolio delivers content that will appeal to a wide range of platforms and broadcasters.”
