Another Season of Primal Survivor for Nat Geo

WASHINGTON, D.C./STOCKHOLM: National Geographic has ordered a six-episode third season of the factual series Primal Survivor from the U.K.’s Icon Films.

Primal Survivor sees wilderness guide and survival expert Hazen Audel travel through hostile environments around the globe while using natural instincts and indigenous knowledge to survive. Season three is currently in production for broadcast next year on Nat Geo in 171 territories and 45 languages.

Tim Pastore, Nat Geo’s president of original programming and production, remarked: “Hazen’s unmatched sense of adventure and drive to explore the most remote, untouched corners of the globe are in perfect alignment with National Geographic’s mission to entertain and push forward our understanding of the world. With unparalleled access to even the most remote indigenous communities, Primal Survivor will offer viewers a glimpse into ancient wisdoms and traditions honed over the course of thousands of years in some of the most grueling land- and seascapes on Earth.”

Harry Marshall, the creative director of Icon Films, added: “As a teacher, artist, survival instructor and trained ethnobotanist with Native American heritage (his grandmother was Flathead Kootenai Native American from the plains and mountains of Montana), Hazen was born [for] the role of Primal Survivor. He moves effortlessly between worlds, making the familiar exotic and the exotic familiar. He is the real deal, spring-loaded with curiosity, fueled by adventure, but grounded by a profound respect for other ways of life and living. What’s not to like about Hazen Audel?”

Marshall and Stephen McQuillan, head of factual, executive produce Primal Survivor for Icon Films. Pastore and Hamish Mykura, executive VP and head of international content, serve as exec producers for Nat Geo.
