A+E Networks to Develop Shows for Snapchat

NEW YORK: A+E Networks and Snap Inc. have entered into a new partnership deal to develop shows for Snapchat’s Discover platform.

The agreement will involve talent and brands from across A+E Networks’ channels and franchises, along with new concepts from 45th & Dean. A+E Networks’ digital storytelling hub, 45th & Dean, will produce its first original series for Snapchat, Second Chance, set to premiere on the platform in April. The show will feature couples at a breaking point in their relationship who are seeking closure. The series will feature eight weekly episodes, available for Snapchatters in the U.S., U.K., Canada and Australia.

“When we launched 45th & Dean one year ago, our vision was innovation in storytelling across all platforms, and rich, meaningful partnerships,” said Paul Greenberg, the executive VP and general manager of 45th & Dean and FYI at A+E Network. “Snapchat is a powerful brand, one which knows how to reach new audiences by pushing the limits and expanding the boundaries of creativity. We’re extremely excited to bring A+E Networks’ strong brand portfolio—which includes A&E, Lifetime, HISTORY and FYI—to the Snapchat platform like never before as we roll out Second Chance and several other series already in development.”

“A+E’s investment in mobile storytelling is exactly what Snapchat shows are all about: the ability to create premium and wholly original content for a mobile-first audience from some of the best storytellers in the world,” said Nick Bell, the VP of content at Snap Inc. “We are excited to break new ground with A+E Networks on our first unscripted series, with a concept that we think is raw and relatable.”
