ABC Family Orders Second Season of Monica the Medium

BURBANK: ABC Family has given the go-ahead for a sophomore season of its original reality series Monica the Medium.

Produced by Dave Caplan’s Trooper Entertainment in association with Lionsgate TV, Monica the Medium follows Monica, a college student and psychic medium who can talk to dead people and must handle this reality as she navigates friends, family and relationships. The season one finale, in which Monica does a reading with mothers who have lost their children, airs tonight at 8 p.m. on ABC Family.

Jennifer O’Connell, the executive VP of alternative programming at Lionsgate Television, said, “Together with our marvelous partners at ABC Family, we remain fascinated, charmed and proud of Monica, her friends and family as they continue to reveal both the everyday and the extraordinary moments of their lives with audiences. As Lionsgate continues to build its presence in unscripted programming, this is one of the shows leading the way.”

“Monica has changed lives for the better and given comfort and closure to family members while exploring her unique ability,” remarked Karey Burke, the executive VP of programming and development at ABC Family. “She connects as well with our audience as she does with Spirit.”

ABC Family will be renamed Freeform in January 2016.
