A. Smith & Co. Launches Entertainment & Factual Divisions

LOS ANGELES: A. Smith & Co. Productions has established two new divisions, with an arm dedicated to documentary and factual programming and one specialized in entertainment.

A. Smith & Co. Dox is the new unit for documentary and factual programming. It includes a partnership Strong Eagle Media, producers of the hit film Citizen Soldier, a co-production between both companies. The two companies will continue to create documentary films together in a first-look co-production deal that spans multiple projects. A. Smith & Co. Dox is the result of the merger between A. Smith & Co. Productions and sister company BASE Productions. Meanwhile, A. Smith & Co. Entertainment will house the company’s wide variety of entertainment programming.

Both divisions will exist under the A. Smith & Co. Productions banner, which will continue to be led by CEO Arthur Smith, President Kent Weed and COO Frank Sinton. Toby Gorman joins from FremantleMedia North America to lead A. Smith & Co. Entertainment as president, while Sinton will lead Dox as president.
