Sky 1 to Honor Attenborough

LONDON: Sky has commissioned Attenborough at 90: Behind the Lens, from Atlantic Productions, in honor of the naturalist’s 90th birthday.

Attenborough at 90: Behind the Lens will be broadcast on Sky 1 at 9 p.m. on Saturday, April 30. The special will also air on ABC in Australia. The film was shot over seven years and follows Sir David Attenborough as, in his early eighties, he set out to make 11 projects using new technologies, including 4K, 3D and virtual reality. Executive produced by his longtime collaborator Anthony Geffen, Attenborough at 90: Behind the Lens was written and directed by Anne Sommerfield and produced by Atlantic Productions.

Geffen, the CEO of Atlantic Productions, commented, “This is such a special Attenborough film because unusually he is the subject. As I look back over the last seven years, I never fail to be amazed by his extraordinary ambition and drive to use the very latest technology to communicate the natural world to audiences around the globe. This film gives audiences the chance to see what it’s like to be on the road with David.”
