WBD Acquires Days that Shocked the World Titles for Europe

Warner Bros. Discovery has picked up three Days that Shocked the World titles for its linear channels and streaming platforms across Europe from BossaNova Media.

Days that Shocked the World, produced by BriteSpark Films, explores the most devastating disasters of the last 40 years. WBD has acquired the episodes on the tragedies of the Fukushima earthquake, the Chernobyl powerplant meltdown and 9/11.

Fukushima: Days that Shocked the World explores the most powerful earthquake to ever hit Japan. On March 11, 2011, the earthquake caused a tsunami that killed almost 20,000 people and triggered a nuclear disaster. To coincide with the 15th anniversary of the disaster in March, the title will air on Discovery Benelux, DMAX Spain, NOVE Italy, TTV Poland, Discovery Poland, TVN24+, Discovery Hungary, Discovery Nordics and Discovery Central & Eastern Europe.

Chernobyl: Days that Shocked the World delves into the Chernobyl powerplant meltdown in 1986, the world’s worst nuclear accident to date. The disaster still haunts survivors, and the cleanup operation is expected to continue for another 40 years. The series will air around the 40th anniversary in April on Discovery Benelux, DMAX Spain, TTV Poland, Discovery Poland, TVN24+, Discovery France, Discovery Hungary, Discovery Nordics, Discovery Central & Eastern and Discovery Middle East & Africa.

9/11: Days that Shocked the World looks back at the terrorist airplane hijacking and destruction of the Twin Towers, which killed nearly 3,000 people and triggered the war on terror. The episode will air around the 25th anniversary of the attack in September on Discovery Benelux, DMAX Spain, NOVE Italy, TTV Poland, Discovery Poland, TVN24+, Discovery Hungary, Discovery Nordics and Discovery Central & Eastern Europe.

“We continually seek out titles that resonate with our audiences and highlight significant anniversaries from global history, ensuring their legacies reach new generations and deepen their understanding of our world,” said Myriam Lopez-Otazu, senior VP of international unscripted content and global networks for EMEA at WBD. “These titles bring fresh perspectives to pivotal moments of the past, igniting a curiosity in both those that remember where they were when they happened and those who have only ever encountered them in history books.”
