TVF International Offering Titles with “Must-Have Star Quality”

Whether looking back at the Chernobyl nuclear disaster, studying the Ozempic revolution or uncovering natural wonders, TVF International’s latest titles boast “a ‘must-have’ star quality for broadcasters,” says Poppy McAlister, head of the distributor.

Highlights are Escape from Chernobyl: 48 Hours That Changed the World, The Ozempic Effect: Beyond the Waistline and China’s Wild Secrets. “An anniversary, a headline grabber, a global talent attached—they represent the best of TVF’s core genres: history, wildlife and world affairs,” McAlister says.

Escape from Chernobyl: 48 Hours That Changed the World dives into the first 48 hours of the nuclear disaster, taking a deep dive into the chaos, bravery and human cost.

Additional history titles include Asia’s Ancient Civilisations season three and Si Thep: Ancient Civilisation of the Sun God. Also available is The Last Burma Star, following Major Levison Wood and historian Alex Bescoby as they pay tribute to Burmese veterans who fought alongside British Commonwealth forces in Burma in World War II.

The current affairs title The Ozempic Effect: Beyond the Waistline is an in-depth investigation into the rise of the infamous weight-loss drug Ozempic.

In the science category, The Future with Hannah Fry is available, as is Innovation Nation. New for MIPCOM is Voices of the Universe, bringing together 18 Nobel Prize-winning scientists to answer humanity’s most pressing questions about the universe. The Nuclear Option, evaluating nuclear power as the search for clean energy solutions intensifies; Confessions of a Brain Surgeon, about the ethics and toll of high-stakes medicine; and Hooked: The Science of Addiction, exploring addiction and recovery are on offer as well.

TVF International is bringing a selection of lifestyle titles to MIPCOM as well, with Saving Britain’s Country Houses with Penelope Keith, following homeowners racing to keep their historical homes intact across the U.K.; Lunch With Us, going inside the lunchtime rush at restaurants across Asia; and Not Your Butter Chicken, about the South Asian food scene in North America.

Factual entertainment programs on the slate include season one of Off Road Rescue and Inside Police Coast Guard.

The distributor is also launching the true-crime series Australian Crime Stories: The Investigators at MIPCOM.

An additional title on offer is China’s Wild Secrets, narrated by Stephen Fry, taking viewers on a journey into the hidden wildlife havens of China.

“MIPCOM is always a fantastic opportunity to find new partners or ways to collaborate with existing partners to bring more outstanding factual content to life,” McAlister says.

“Alongside the sale of brand-new completed tape, we have a number of projects at the development/presale stage for which we’ll be looking for partners,” she adds. “And we’ll also be looking to expand our existing work with online partners.
