City of Queens, a feature documentary telling the stories of eight London drag queens, has been licensed by Peacock for the U.S.

The aim of the documentary is to humanize the people behind drag, showing that the queens are part of families and communities with real, relatable problems. It stars Bimini Bon Boulash, runner-up of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK season two.

City of Queens is set to debut on Peacock on June 1. It is the latest sale for the documentary, which has also been picked up by Sky UK, Sky Italia and Paramount Australia—10 Play.

The documentary is produced by Great Guns and directed by Matt Timmiss. Timmiss is looking to serialize the format and has produced a pitch deck for a version spanning six U.S. cities.

“We are solution-oriented and thrive on the creative challenges presented to us. Our continued efforts to encourage and mentor talent is a vital part of Great Guns’ DNA,” said Laura Gregory, CEO of Great Guns. “Matt Timmiss approached us with a short film idea and five minutes of cut footage over two years ago, and we backed his dream with production staff and budget to turn his vision into a feature-length film. Matt is an outstanding young writer and director who has catapulted himself in the world of film; his passion and drive compels everyone around him to deliver more.”

Gregory continued, “Great Guns is a true global partner to some of the world’s smartest and best creative brands from the U.S., U.K., Europe and across Asia. Being diverse and inclusive is, and always has been, an essential part of our ethos. Our mantra is ‘think local, be global.’”
