Curious Films has tapped Kim Shillinglaw, former Endemol Shine factual director and BBC Two and BBC Four controller, as non-executive director.

Shillinglaw brings 30 years of experience to the company as it looks to capitalize on recent commissions and accelerate its growth over the next 12 months. Across her career, she has commissioned programs such as Frozen Planet, Horrible Histories, Blue Planet II, The Real Marigold Hotel, Muslims Like Us, Exodus and Inside the Factory.

At Endemol Shine, Shillinglaw led commercial companies from loss to profit and tripling turnover ahead of a successful trade sale.

Curious Films’ recent commissions include Squad Goals 3: Dorking Til I Die (working title), Reclaiming Amy, Caroline Flack: Her Life & Death and The People vs Climate Change.

Dov Freedman, co-founder of Curious Films, said: “Kim’s expertise and vast experience will be invaluable as we capitalize on recent wins and position the company for accelerated growth over the next 12 months. One of our key objectives, alongside expanding our existing work for U.K. and international broadcasters and streamers, is building returning series brands—like Squad Goals—and Charlie [Russell] and I couldn’t be prouder that Kim has agreed to come on board and help us achieve this.”

Shillinglaw added: “Curious Films is in an exciting position at the moment, with a growing reputation for films that are great watches and stand out from the crowd. I love their commitment to quality entertainment and think there’s a real opportunity to keep growing with the talented team led by Dov and Charlie.”
