TVF International Secures Deals for Female-Focused Titles

A host of international broadcasters have picked up shows celebrating women around the world from the London-based factual distributor TVF International in honor of International Women’s Day on March 8.

The Turkish pubcaster TRT, Medialaan in Belgium and the cable channel BYUtv have picked up the 48-minute special Miss Amazing, a heart-warming documentary celebrating The National Miss Amazing Pageant for girls with physical and learning disabilities. Elsewhere, VRT Belgium, RTVE Spain, TG4 Ireland, AfriDocs and Al Jazeera Witness have licensed The Daughter Tree from award-winning director Rama Rau. The film follows Neelam Bala, an Indian midwife and activist as she challenges female infanticide.

Meanwhile, BBC Arabic and Sky New Zealand are among the broadcasters acquiring Sign of the Times, a five-part series offering female perspectives on a man’s world, commissioned by Dutch pubcaster NPO and reversioned by TVF International for international broadcasters.

Finally, Al Jazeera and the streaming service Curio acquired Eco-Heroines, a six-part factual series highlighting the incredible work being done by six leading conservationists around the world, each on a mission to save a local species from the brink of extinction.

The boutique distributor is also launching new documentaries with strong female characters for its London Showcase, including The She Life Story, from Attitude Pictures which follows girls and women with physical differences who come together to overcome social stigma, and Bulletproof, an eight-part series focusing on young people who have suffered life-changing injuries.
