Lion TV has added Emma Morgan and Tom Watt-Smith to the company’s senior creative leadership team.

Morgan has been tapped for the creative director position, while Watt-Smith has been appointed head of factual. They will both report directly to chief content officer Nick Catliff and chief creative officer Richard Bradley. In their new roles, Morgan and Watt-Smith will grow the production company’s raft of programming, which spans entertainment, daytime, science and history, international co-productions and multiplatform projects.

Joining Lion TV from Firecracker Films, Morgan has also held key roles in both development and production at Twofour, Mentorn and Oxford Scientific Films. Watt-Smith counts a number of high-profile specialist-factual series and documentary successes for the BBC and Channel 4.

Bradley and Catliff said: “Now is a really exciting moment in the Lion story as we embark on a process of investment and creative renewal across our London, Glasgow and New York bases. We are delighted to welcome Emma and Tom who will add their talents and experience to our senior team in the U.K. and the U.S. We have long admired Emma’s brilliant work creating and delivering ground-breaking formats and popular factual shows. She has a wealth of experience and the most fantastic creative energy which will be wonderful assets at the heart of Lion going forward. With his recent Grierson Award, Tom is a rising star of the factual world and we are looking forward to working with him to build on Lion’s distinguished reputation in high-end factual programs and the exciting global opportunities, and take us to new heights.”

Morgan said: “I’ve had a brilliant run at Firecracker but I’ve always been a fan of Lion’s huge range of output and the chance to join them at this exciting time in their evolution was too good to miss.”

Watt-Smith said: “Lion TV has a brilliant reputation and pedigree of programs and I’m honored to be joining the team at what is a very exciting time for the business.”
