Smithsonian Channel has lined up a pair of films that explore volcanic eruptions and their aftermath—Volcanoes: Dual Destruction and Islands of Fire.

Volcanoes: Dual Destruction features exclusive eyewitness reports and home footage taken on the ground from the 2018 eruptions at Fuego in Guatemala and Kilauea in Hawaii. The hour-long documentary Islands of Fire, meanwhile, visits the volcanic islands along the mid-Atlantic ridge that have become lands of beauty, growth and new life. Volcanoes: Dual Destruction premieres on Sunday, September 8 and Islands of Fire bows on Sunday, September 15, both at 9 p.m. on Smithsonian Channel.

Volcanoes: Dual Destruction is produced by Emma Read and Mark Strickson of Emporium Productions for Smithsonian Networks. Carl Hall of Warehouse 51 Productions produced Islands of Fire.
