Wonder, a Banijay Group company, has been commissioned to make the docuseries Billy Connolly’s Great American Trail for ITV.

In the three-part program, Connolly will tell the story of the Scottish people in America, traveling across the U.S. and visiting places rarely seen or heard about. Following the migratory journey of the Scots from Plymouth, Massachusetts to Nashville, Tennessee, Billy Connolly’s Great American Trail will see its comedic host exploring the footprint the Scots left on American culture—from music and football to gangsters and real-life moonshiners and even U.S. presidents.

The docuseries will be distributed globally by Banijay Rights.

Mike Reilly, executive producer at Wonder, said: “This series will show a side to America and to Billy Connolly that has never been seen before. It is a privilege to be working with such an amazing talent, and to bring his unique view of the world to our screens.”
