Showtime Documentary Films is partnering with Oscar-winning director Alex Gibney and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Lawrence Wright on a documentary feature that will explore U.S.-Saudi Arabia relations.

Tentatively titled House of Saud, the film will begin with the October 2018 murder of Washington Post journalist and U.S. resident Jamal Khashoggi. It will then dive into the history between the U.S. and Saudi Arabia in the decades that have led to the present day, including the Trump administration’s interactions with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Gibney is set to produce House of Saud under his Jigsaw Productions banner alongside Wright. Gibney and Wright previously collaborated on the Emmy-nominated series The Looming Tower and the Emmy-winning documentary Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief, both of which were based on books written by Wright.
