Scorpion TV has licensed 100 hours of factual content to partners across Central and Eastern Europe.

Scorpion’s sales executive for CEE, Ben Haines, closed several package deals in the region. Polish broadcaster iTVN scooped up a package that includes Borderland, which sees average Americans confronted with the realities of illegal immigration; Shelter, which looks at the Veterans Resource Center in California; and True Cost, a documentary that exposes the true cost of cheap clothing. TVP in Poland also licensed True Cost and Dirty Games, which offers a revealing look at corruption in the global sports industry.

Estonian public broadcaster ERR closed deals for science and current affairs titles, including Ever Wondered and Brexit Means Brexit. In Hungary, Echo TV signed on for 16 one-off current affairs documentaries. These include Ever Wondered, Zapped: The Buzz About Mosquitoes, Sheltered in Oaks and Flying Rainbow.

Haines remarked, “In the last couple of years, our relationships with CEE broadcasters have deepened, because they know we have the hard-hitting, emotional documentaries their audiences love. Reflecting our buyers’ changing requirements, we’ve also diversified into science, travel, food and music content, and this is also serving us well. But what runs through all our work is quality. We’ve spent the last decade building up a catalog of which we’re immensely proud, and that focus on premium content is now paying dividends.”
