Investigation Discovery (ID) has strengthened its development team by hiring former Oxygen Media executive Erica Diaz-Gant and promoting Brent Hatherill from within.

Diaz-Gant was appointed as the senior director of development for Investigation Discovery. She will be based in Discovery’s New York office, where she will report to Jane Latman, the executive VP of development for ID. Prior to joining Discovery, Diaz-Gant was the executive in charge of Oxygen Network’s crime series Snapped. Her other credits include Killer Couples, She Made Me Do It, #KillerPost and the Snapped: Notorious franchise.

In addition, Brent Hatherill was promoted from his role as director of development to senior director. Hatherill remains in the Silver Spring, Maryland, headquarters, reporting to Winona Meringolo, the VP of development. Hatherill joined Discovery in 2015 to oversee the conceptualization and development of nonfiction programming at American Heroes Channel (AHC). He launched Blood & Fury: America’s Civil War and Hitler: The Definitive Guide, among other titles. Since joining the ID team in 2016, Hatherill has been responsible for developing the upcoming James Patterson’s Murder Is Forever, in addition to a slew of yet-to-be-announced series.

“Erica is a passionate content executive with hundreds of hours of true-crime development and production experience across unscripted and scripted genres, while Brent has proven himself a tremendous asset to our team with a keen and creative eye for developing true-crime content specifically catered to the dedicated ID fan,” said Latman. “I am confident that these bold personnel moves will bolster our development slate, help us continue to innovate the true-crime genre and allow us to retain our position as the number-one network for women on cable.”
