360Production Appoints Director of U.K. Factual

LONDON/DERRY: 360Production, an indie factual producer owned by the Rare TV group, has hired seasoned director and producer Belinda Cherrington as director of U.K. factual, a newly created position.

Cherrington joins the company from Warner’s Renegade Pictures, where she served in an executive production role focusing on generating specialist factual and access ideas for BBC2, Channel 4 and BBC 4. She has held a number of senior and executive positions at such companies as Lion TV, Films of Record, Mentorn Media, Tigress Productions and Tiger Aspect. She earned a BAFTA nomination for her first directing role, during which she made four episodes of the hit BBC One series Hotel.

Cherrington has also worked in development across a variety of factual genres, including such prime-time commissions as BBC Two’s Ben’s Zoo, ITV’s Surgery School, Channel 4’s Around the World in 80 Trades, Discovery’s X-Ray Yellowstone and National Geographic Channel’s Crowd Control. In 2011, she moved to the U.S., where she opened a development office for Mentorn Media in New York.

Cherrington commented: “From documentary through to specialist factual formats, content-rich factual is becoming increasingly hybrid and broad. This is a real opportunity to inject emotion, process and event across the whole factual slate here at 360.”

Ailsa Orr, 360Production’s creative director, added: “Belinda is a business-winning executive producer with an amazing track record of developing and delivering successful prime-time factual series. She joins at a time when 360 is poised to enter its next phase of growth, which includes popularizing our factual slate as well and developing formats for the U.K. and international market.”
