TORONTO: The fall lineup of TVOKids kicks off on September 6 with a slate that includes The Jungle Book, Rob the Robot and Mr. Moon.

Gisèle’s Big Backyard, TVOKids’ early-learning block for kids aged 2 to 6, kicks off with the new season with Tinga Tinga Tales, a series inspired by traditional African folktales. Everything’s Rosie follows Rosie and her cast of friends who embark on adventures and learn the true meaning of friendship, and Poetry Pie brings poetry to life in a magical world of letters and sounds.

The Space, TVO’s live-hosted after-school lineup that airs weekdays from 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., has a selection of new animated and live-action series to highlight. The Jungle Book will make its North American premiere during this block. Penelope K joins the lineup as well. There will also be a new host for The Space this fall.

Further highlights include Mr. Moon, which features lessons about the planets, and Rob the Robot, which teaches kids that there’s a solution to every problem. There’s also science and technology-themed episodes of the TVO-produced This and That Shop.

And once a month this fall, and then every week later in the season, families can look forward to films on weekend afternoons. The family movie block begins October 10 with Heidi 4 Paws, starring an all-dog cast and featuring the voices of Angela Lansbury, Stephen Rea, Steve Guttenberg and Meghan Strange. On November 14, the kids’ classic Benji will air. And for the holidays, Kate Winslet, Nicolas Cage, Jane Horrocks and Simon Callow are the voices of the animated Christmas Carol: The Movie, airing on December 19 and 25.
