Youth Media Alliance Unveils Awards of Excellence Nominees

The Youth Media Alliance (YMA) has revealed the French-language youth television programs and interactive productions that have received nominations for an Award of Excellence for 2020.

The Award of Excellence for best television or web series has six subcategories, including two for programs centering on the acquisition of knowledge and critical thinking skills. Long-form titles up for the award are Arthur L’aventurier au bout du monde en Australie, Clovis, FLIP and Passe-Partout, while 14 mille millions de choses à savoir, Le Défi 5 ingrédients avec les Sœurs Coutu, Le monde est petit, On parle de sexe, On parle de sexe 2 and Vraiment top 2 are the short-form series up for an award.

In the stimulation of imagination and creativity genre, nominations were given to Cochon dingue 3, L’Expo idéale avec Hervé Tullet, La course des tuques and Les Sapiens. For the commitment, openness and respect subcategory, FLIP, l’algorithme, MAMMOUTH 2019, Nomades and On parle de sexe 2 received nods. À FOND DE TRAIN 3, Jenny 2, L’Académie and Le 422 are the nominated shows focused on the advancement of personal growth and self-transcendence, while 14 mille millions de choses à savoir, La course des tuques, Par ici la magie and Pas plus bêtes que nous are the titles receiving nods for tackling emancipation through games and humor.

The Award of Excellence for best interactive content for the acquisition of knowledge and critical thinking skills counts the interactive exhibition À bon port!, the L’Application Passe-Partout app, the website MAJ, l’actualité pour les jeunes and the Slice Fractions 2 app among the nominees. The website Blogue de Jenny 2, the website and interactive experience MAMMOUTH 2019 and the SMALA app are nominated for interactive content centering on commitment, openness and respect, while the interactive content subcategory for stimulation of imagination and creativity/emancipation through games and humor features the online game Alix et les Merveilleux, the website and app Coucou and the Par ici la magie app as nominees.

Gabrielle Fontaine (actress; Passe Partout, 14 mille millions de choses à savoir), Daniel Coutu (head writer, host, creator and producer; Par ici la magie), Sarah-Jeanne Labrosse and Pier-Luc Funk for MAMMOUTH 2019 are up for the Award of Excellence for youth personality, which is presented to a person (or a group) influential for young people.

The YMA will also give out the YMA Parents’ Award and two Kids’ Choice Awards whose nominees will be announced in late April. The Outstanding Achievement Award and the Emerging Talent Award will also be given out. All winners will be announced during a live web presentation on May 27.
