The YAY UK (Young Animator of the Year UK) competition, which works to discover and nurture new industry talent, has opened its 2024 call for entries.

Submissions for the competition will be accepted until September 16. Material can be 3D, 2D or stop-motion animation and will be judged by professional artists and animation industry experts, with the winning film to premiere at Manchester Animation Festival.

YAY UK is an ACCESS:VFX initiative. The awards ceremony at the festival is sponsored by Blue Zoo Animation Studio.

More prizes include trophies and exclusive tours of U.K. animation studios.

Will Becher, director at Aardman and YAY UK Judge, said, “It was a joy to judge the Young Animator of the Year UK awards last year; I’m still inspired by the work from last year’s animators and can’t wait to see what amazing films they create this year!”
