WarnerMedia EMEA has acquired the rights for the Wolkenlenker-produced preschool show Spookies from Serious Kids.

The series follows ghosts Lily, Bob and Freddy as they explore Castle Ravenrock, where no door stays locked, no secret is kept and adventure is around every corner. It will be broadcast on WarnerMedia’s Cartoonito channel and HBO Max in EMEA. The 78×7-minute CGI series is due to premiere in 2023/24.

Zia Bales, lead of acquisitions, partnerships and co-productions for kids and family at WarnerMedia EMEA, said: “Spookies immediately stood out as a perfect fit for Cartoonito and for HBO Max EMEA. We are excited to partner with Wolkenlenker to bring this delightful show to preschool audiences.”

Sebastian Wehner, co-founder and CEO of Wolkenlenker, added: “Childhood today can be anxiety-inducing. Our three little ghosts are showing kids, with a lot of humor and understanding, that you can overcome almost everything life throws at you.”

Genevieve Dexter, CEO of Serious Kids, said: “We are delighted to cement this deal and look forward to agreeing to another.”
