This October, Universal Kids is slated to broadcast the world premiere of American Ninja Warrior Junior, a kids’ version of the competition series that airs on NBC in the U.S.

American Ninja Warrior Junior will be presented by Matt Iseman and Akbar Gbajabiamila, who serve as hosts on the original show. The spin-off will look on as boys and girls compete together in the same “head to head” obstacle courses. It includes three age groups: 9 and 10, 11 and 12, and 13 and 14.

“We know that American Ninja Warrior resonates with families—but we also know that kids want to see themselves reflected on screen,” said Deirdre Brennan, the general manager of Universal Kids. “The opportunity to tap into this incredible franchise—creating a version exclusively for kids—is tremendous, and really delivers on our investment in big-brand, innovative content.”

“Over the past decade, we have seen a groundswell of support from our younger audiences, who have been clamoring for the chance to be a Ninja,” added Arthur Smith, the CEO of A. Smith & Co. Productions. “Along with our partners at Universal Kids, we can’t wait to create an experience that captures the spirit of American Ninja Warrior and delivers on everything our fans have been asking for—and much more.”
