ATLANTA: Time Warner’s Turner and Warner Bros. have teamed up for a new standalone domestic premium video subscription service called Boomerang that is slated to become available in the U.S. this spring.

Boomerang will provide instant and exclusive access to new original animated series, including Warner Bros. Animation’s Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz and Wacky Races, as well as such animated classics as Scooby-Doo, Tom & Jerry, The Jetsons, The Flintstones and Bugs Bunny content. New programming will be added on a weekly basis. This marks the first time that Turner and Warner Bros. have offered the Hanna-Barbera, Looney Tunes and MGM animation libraries of over 5,000 titles on a streaming platform.

Boomerang will include such product features as family profiles, personalized recommendations, download-to-go, Spanish audio and more. The ad-free OTT service will be powered by applications and technology developed by Warner Bros. Digital Networks’ DramaFever. It will launch domestically on the web, iOS and Android devices, later expanding to additional platforms.

“Boomerang is a beloved brand that has always had multi-generational appeal and some of the greatest animated shows ever created,” said Christina Miller, the president of Cartoon Network, Boomerang and Adult Swim. “Our ongoing partnership with Warner Bros. around this new premium service continues our strategy of making sure our fans are engaged with fresh and fun content whenever and wherever they want it.”

“We are bringing the best new and classic characters to kids, families and animation fans so they can now watch their favorites anywhere, anytime on any screen,” added Craig Hunegs, the president of business and strategy at Warner Bros. Television Group and president of Warner Bros. Digital Networks. “It’s a whole new way to access Warner Bros.’ storied legacy of laughs!”
