The Smurfs Gets Third Season

The Smurfs animated series has been picked up for a third season, set to be broadcast globally by Nickelodeon and on local free-to-air in 2024.

In the new season, the blue troublemakers pick up where they left off with new characters and elements added to the mix. New Smurfs girls join the original characters.

The Smurfs, co-produced by Peyo Productions, Ellipse Animation, KiKA, Ketnet, RTBF and TF1, is distributed by IMPS.

IMPS is has also revealed that Giochi Preziosi is the new master toy partner for non-English speaking territories. The Italian toy company is creating a brand-new Smurfs toy line, set to hit the European market in 2024.

Florida-based company Jazwares is The Smurfs’ master toy partner for English-speaking territories.

There will also be a special 65th birthday celebration for the Smurfs in their home country on October 21 and 22 at FACTS, the Belgian Comic Con. The Smurfs appeared for the first time in in the Belgian comics magazine Spirou on October 23, 1958.

Véronique Culliford is the daughter of Peyo, creator of the Smurfs. Culliford, president and founder of Peyo Productions and IMPS, said, “I’m very happy to be able to continue my father’s work with yet another fantastic new season of The Smurfs TV series and the upcoming release of a new toy line for kids to play and create their own stories.”

Ellipse Animation’s Caroline Duvochel added, “We’re delighted that the creative magic of the Ellipse Animation and Peyo Productions teams will be brought to screens in this brand-new season. The stories of our favorite characters are endless, and we can’t wait for children to discover these new Smurfing adventures!”
