CBBC has commissioned an eighth season of The Next Step, which has secured a presale from Corus Entertainment for Canadian rights.

Currently in production in Canada, the new season of The Next Step is slated to premiere this fall on CBBC and iPlayer in the U.K. and on Corus Entertainment’s YTV in Canada. In addition, ABC Australia has acquired season eight for ABC Me.

Combining dynamic dance with more tense dramas on and off the dance floor, season eight brings fierce rivalry as A-Troupe and B-Troupe battle to finally decide which team will represent The Next Step at Nationals.

Boat Rocker manages the global franchise development and consumer products for The Next Step.

Jon Rutherford, president of Boat Rocker Studios, Kids & Family and Rights, said: “The Next Step is a powerhouse brand whose success is a testimony to its gripping and relevant storylines. The series continues to resonate with fans with its exhilarating dance routines and a broad cast of appealing and relatable characters. The unique blend of dance and drama really strikes a chord with viewers, and the brand continues to grow both on- and off-screen.”
