Serious Kids to Distribute BBC Children’s My Life

Serious Kids has been appointed as the worldwide distributor for a selection of films from the CBBC My Life series and will present them at MIPJunior.

Alongside Big Deal Films, Drummer TV and Nine Lives Media, BBC Children’s and Education and Serious Kids have worked together to curate a collection of films from the last 15 years, packaged to be available to the international market for the first time via a specialist children’s distributor.

Among the films being distributed are Boy on a Bicycle, in which Ahmed leads viewers through life at a refugee camp; Girl Genius, which follows Kashmea’s mission to prevent deaths from food allergies; and Marvellous Messy Minds, centering on Libby, Ethan and Oliver as they learn to control their anxiety, ADHD and OCD.

“We are finally ready to launch the series at MIPJunior after over a year’s work on bringing this together,” said Genevieve Dexter, founder and CEO of Serious Kids. “We thank everyone at BBC Children’s and Education, Big Deal Films, Drummer TV, Nine Lives Media and Flix for working with us on this project. We know from attending BAFTA and Emmy Awards ceremonies over the years that these films are well-respected around the world, and we are excited to see the response from the international broadcast community. If successful, we can add new films to the collection to supply what will hopefully be a strand on many other channels besides CBBC.”

“I’ve long made it my mission to bring these wonderful films to children and families beyond the U.K.,” said Patricia Hidalgo, director of BBC Children’s and Education. “Sharing uplifting, homegrown stories is key to showcasing British culture—and taking them to MIPJunior helps build cultural understanding across borders.”

“Sharing stories is such an important way to communicate across different cultures, and I am sure young audiences across the world will enjoy and learn from this My Life series,” added Cat Lewis, CEO and executive producer at Nine Lives Media.
