The Hive Studio has opened a Greek base in Athens.
In partnership with ANIMASYROS Productions, The Hive Greece was opened with the motive to unite the talent and resources of the Southern Mediterranean region, with strengthening the local animation industry at the forefront.
The Hive Studio was founded by Oscar-nominated producer Amit Russell Gicelter (Black Slide, Butterfly Kiss). In 2024, its short film Letter to a Pig received an Oscar nomination.
Amit Russell Gicelter, founder and CEO of The Hive Studio, said, “I’m truly excited to be collaborating with the Greek industry. Over the past several months, we’ve been developing, producing and collaborating together. It feels like a natural and meaningful evolution for our company. I can’t wait to explore the opportunities that lie ahead.”
ANIMASYROS Productions is the company responsible for the largest Greek animation film festival, ANIMASYROS International Animation Festival.
The Hive Studio and ANIMASYROS have collaborated on several projects, including the short film P, which has recently received the ASIFA-Hellas Award for best screenplay and was selected for multiple festivals.
The new partnership is set to collaborate with local talent and bolster new content partnerships with European production companies. The Greek branch will also offer Toon Boom masterclasses to help foster new talent.
