In celebration of Teletubbies’ 27th anniversary, WildBrain CPLG has signed a global partnership with MetaPals to introduce Teletubbies AI digital companions as NFTs on April 20.

Using AI and blockchain technology, Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Laa-Laa and Po will become personalized, evolving companions who will accompany users across the web and integrate with their daily browsing experiences via the MetaPals browser extension game engine.

With characteristics distributed across over 5,000 Teletubby companions along a spectrum, every user will have a one-of-a-kind experience and each companion will exhibit a unique combination of traits. The 5,000 NFTs are priced between $100 and $200, with odds of 1,100 for each Teletubby and 600 for Noo-Noo. Each mint comes with exclusive accessories.

The Teletubbies anniversary occurred on March 31, marking 27 years of the characters fostering the developing imaginations of preschoolers in a world of exploration and surprises. WildBrain has since introduced a newly reimagined live-action Netflix series, featuring narrator Tituss Burgess (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), as well as the CG-animated YouTube series Teletubbies Let’s Go!

“We’re excited to see WildBrain’s Teletubbies come to life in new ways through this unique digital experience for fans,” said Ben Peace, VP of AsiaPac at WildBrain CPLG. “As we celebrate 27 years of the wildly popular Teletubbies franchise, this latest collaboration encapsulates the essence of childhood nostalgia while embracing the limitless possibilities of the digital age.”

Max Giammario, CEO of MetaPals, added, “Through this collaboration, we’re not just revisiting Teletubbyland, we’re reinventing it for the digital age. By weaving in AI and blockchain, we enable the Teletubbies characters to evolve, interact and form unique bonds with users, embodying our vision of dynamic digital companionship. With a bit of MetaPals magic, the Teletubbies are exploring beyond the hills and far away, ready to play, in ways we’ve never imagined.”
