France’s Superprod Group has joined forces with writer and producer Michael Poryes (Hannah Montana) to create the tween sitcom Home Sweet Rome.

A comedy series, Home Sweet Rome follows the adventures of a young American girl named Lucy, whose life takes an extraordinary turn when she moves to Rome with her father. The series was created by Poryes and will be developed with Doug Schwalbe and Superprod Group, who will work with Milan-based Red Monk Studio on the project.

Superights will distribute the series, which is set to be shot on location in Rome.

Poryes said: “I am way jazzed by the opportunity to create a series with all that is Rome as the backdrop and, indeed, as a character. A 13-year-old American girl having to move to this iconic city and adjust to new friends, new family, new culture and a whole new way of living life, while maintaining old friends thru social media, gives me the fun chance to explore her unique situation while always grounding everything she experiences in the universal emotional truths of being a young teen. I so look forward to this new adventure, both for this girl, and me!”

Superprod CEO Clement Calvet said: “It’s a great extension of Superprod’s ambitions to enter the tween sitcom space with one of the major talents in the field, from That’s So Raven to Hannah Montana, Michael’s work speaks for itself.”

Red Monk Studio CEO Pedro Citaristi added: “We are truly happy to work with such talented partners on this beautiful project. Having the chance to talk about Rome and Italy in a tween live-action series sounds just exciting.”

Schwalbe commented: “This production will be unique in its blending of American and European sensibilities—it’s an honor to bring this to life with Michael, Clement and Jérémie.”
